Nabors and eDrilling are joining forces to enhance drilling performance, reliability and efficiency through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and rig automation.
At the center of the collaboration is eDrilling’s AI agent, Ida, which is engineered to tackle the complexities of drilling. Ida enables real-time, optimal decision-making throughout operations. Ida identifies the safest and most efficient path to total depth, predicts and prevents incidents and hazards, and optimizes parameters to enhance performance.
Following the acquisition of MindMesh in 2023, Nabors has been advancing its AI capabilities by integrating physics and digital twin technology with machine learning to enhance existing products and drive the development of new solutions within the SmartROS® rig automation platform.
The collaboration with eDrilling is expected to expand Nabors’ AI resources, facilitate co-development with eDrilling, and contribute valuable data to further refine Ida’s capabilities.
Meanwhile, eDrilling continues to work more broadly with operators, rig contractors and service providers worldwide, utilizing data from wells, formations, operational practices to train the AI Agent.
What are AI Agents?
AI agents are software programs or systems designed to autonomously perceive, decide, and act in an environment to achieve specific goals. They use artificial intelligence technologies, such as machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, to interpret data, make decisions, and execute tasks effectively, often without constant human intervention.
